So Qualcomm released Eudora 6.0 today. The good news for me is that spell checking finally works (see my earlier problems with the betas). The good news for anyone who's still using a 5.X version of Eudora is that 6.0 adds pretty good junk mail filtering.
At this point I wouldn't want to deal with email without a good junk mail filter. Eudora uses Bayesien filters. It's taken a little while to train it to be effective but I only get about one false negative a day and less often a false positive. They've assigned command-J to tell it that something is junk and command-option-J to say "not junk". Thus it's pretty quick to teach Eudora when it makes mistakes.
I'd still like to know what was up with the spell check problem. I couldn't find any mention of fixing the bug in their normally copious release notes. The Eudora developers make lots of "editorial" comments like:
* Support for receiving Apple's made-up-we-don't-need-no-stinkin-standards x-folder
* New icons for Eudora 6.0. Do not panic, you can go back to the old ones
* Revised some popup menus to pacify Panther
* Just Say No to Outlook's weird use of directive
* Fixed little red wagon of naughty users who tried to rename Eudora Nicknames
Strangely, they didn't say anything about spell checking recently. I'm just happy that it works now.
i use eudora 6 as well, however one problem is that when i reply some messages the whole computer freezes. when i restart and reduce the earlier content of the messages thus reducing the size of the outgoing email it manages to go without a problem but not always, then i also tried copying the text with a mouse drag and re pasting it in "without format" mode, so that all arts & styles are deleted, sometimes this helps to send the email, but still it freezes the computer. why is this happeneing ?? can I solve this by adjusting the settings/ options - pls help me out ??
