So obviously this site is made possible by TypePad. I'm still getting used to it, but it seems reasonably good for a hosted but still somewhat custom system.
I was drawn to TypePad by the fact that many of my favorite blogs are done with Movable Type, the more serious, roll-yer-own version. In reality, I think what I really liked was Mena's graphic design. The included templates in TypePad aren't as immediately appealing as I was hoping. I ended up making so many changes that I guess that this blog is now more custom than I was expecting. I'm sure I'll end up making more changes in the future.
While I'm late in the game to blogs in general, it feels nice to be in on the beginning of TypePad. I'm just hoping that it starts to approach the design flexibility that MT has. Maybe after a while I'll end up graduating to MT, but part of me feels like I shouldn't have to. We'll see.
